Holland Clinic: Committed to Serving Marginalized Communities in New Mexico

Introduction

Obesity is a disease that disproportionately affects marginalized individuals and, in turn, further marginalizes them due to the social stigmas associated with it. As a medical professional, Dr. Mark J. Holland MD, chose to specialize in weight loss treatment at his clinic, Holland Clinic, in part to serve marginalized people. The clinic's  (and his) commitment ensures a warm, supportive environment for all patients, including obese people, Hispanic people, black people, indigenous people, Native Americans, members of all marginalized racial groups, and the LGBTQ+ community.

A Mission to Serve All Communities

Dr. Holland's passion for helping marginalized individuals stems from the understanding that obesity can exacerbate existing social disparities, limiting access to quality healthcare and perpetuating negative stereotypes. Holland Clinic was founded on the principle that everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances, deserves compassionate, comprehensive care to help them overcome the challenges of obesity.

Creating a Warm and Supportive Environment

At Holland Clinic, we work diligently to create a warm, supportive environment for all our patients. We recognize that overcoming obesity requires not only expert medical guidance but also a safe space where patients feel respected and understood. Our staff is trained to provide the highest level of care to individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Support for the Hispanic Community, Indigenous People and Native Americans

Holland Clinic is particularly committed to addressing the health needs of Hispanic people, indigenous people, and Native Americans, who often face significant barriers to accessing healthcare services. We understand the unique challenges these communities face, including historical trauma, cultural differences, and socioeconomic factors that contribute to disparities in health outcomes.

Support for the LGBTQ+ Community

Holland Clinic is also deeply committed to providing comprehensive weight loss care for members of the LGBTQ+ community. We understand that this community faces unique challenges in accessing healthcare services due to discrimination, stigma, and a lack of understanding from healthcare providers. Our team is trained to be knowledgeable about and sensitive to the specific health concerns and challenges faced by LGBTQ+ patients. This training allows us to provide care that is both sensitive and responsive to the unique needs of each patient.

Conclusion

At Holland Clinic, we serve people through compassionate weight loss care. We are committed to fostering a warm, supportive environment for all patients.  By extending our commitment to indigenous people, Native Americans, all marginalized racial groups, and the LGBTQ+ community, we strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who often face significant barriers to quality healthcare. As we continue our work, we will humbly seek opportunities to learn, grow, and deepen our impact, ensuring that Holland Clinic remains a center of excellence for our community.
