Dubrow Diet
Concept or Theory Behind this Diet:
The Dubrow Diet is a weight loss plan based on intermittent fasting and is named after its creators, Heather Dubrow, who starred in the reality TV show "The Real Housewives of Orange County," and her husband, Dr. Terry Dubrow, a plastic surgeon who appears on the TV show "Botched."
The diet is outlined in their book "The Dubrow Diet: Interval Eating to Lose Weight and Feel Ageless," and it combines principles of intermittent fasting with a low-carb diet. The intermittent fasting part of the diet encourages dieters to eat within a specific window of time each day and to fast for the remaining hours.
The Dubrow Diet is divided into three phases:
Phase 1 - "Red Carpet Ready": This phase lasts for 2-5 days, where you fast for 16 hours and eat within an 8-hour window. The diet during this phase is very low in carbohydrates.
Phase 2 - "Summer is Coming": This phase is designed to produce steady weight loss. The fasting period varies between 12 and 16 hours, and you introduce a wider variety of foods, including more carbohydrates.
Phase 3 - "Look Hot While Living Like a Human": This is the maintenance phase, designed to be followed for life. The fasting period is reduced to a 12-hour fast with a 12-hour eating window.
The diet promises not just weight loss but also increased energy levels and firmer skin, attributing these effects to the benefits of intermittent fasting. However, it's worth noting that while intermittent fasting can be a successful weight loss strategy for some people, the research on its long-term effects and sustainability is still limited. Furthermore, the emphasis on physical appearance and "looking hot" has been criticized for potentially promoting an unhealthy body image.
It's also essential to remember that any diet plan should ideally be discussed with a healthcare provider or a dietitian to ensure it meets your individual nutritional needs and aligns with your health goals.
