It's not impossible to lose weight. It's not impossible to keep it off. It only seems that way because you have worked so hard for so long and here you are...again. It's more than any human being can take.

How do I know this?

Because I have seen it so many times. In twenty four years I have had the privilege of watching people accomplish incredible goals with their weight. Not athletes or fanatics mind you, just ordinary people. And to be very truthful, I have been a bystander. It wasn't because of me that they did it. It was something else.

Some of these people will tell you it was faith in God. Others will describe a moment of truth when all the scales fell from their eyes. For some people it built slowly with a small success becoming a larger one until eventually a whole new world opened up before them. Each experience was as different as each person.

But there is a common thread among these people, a basic idea that they all seemed to share and it was that "this time is different". 

This time is different.

What does that mean? It means that people finally opened their eyes, looked around and came to understand that unlike, say, walking upside down on the ceiling, losing weight isn't impossible at all. There is no black cloud that follows any human being around injecting calories into them. There is no curse. There is in fact a way to do this. You have a choice. This time it can be different.

But what DOES that mean? Does it mean there is a miracle you never heard of before? No, of course not. It means that, for the love of all that is good in this world, YOU are a free spirit and you can determine your own destiny. No, you can't walk on the ceiling but yes, you can lose weight. And it doesn't mean starving. It doesn't mean exercising hours each day. It means taking control of your life and applying a handful of very basic principles. Very basic.

It means turning off the cruise control and driving the car again. It means planning and following through; being responsible to yourself, being rational, realistic and mature. YOU have the tools to change your life and when you want to, anytime now, you can use them.

This time is different.

Different because for once, at long last you are willing to do exactly what it takes for exactly the right reasons.

It only seems hopeless because you're tired. So get some rest and think about it. Really think about it. This is YOUR life. And when you wake up in the morning, take a deep breath and get to work.

  • reduce fat
  • increase fiber
  • never count calories
  • avoid sugar 
  • increase anti-inflammatory fats
